Hibiscus Key Lime Margarita

Ingredients

Hibiscus Margarita

  • 1 cup dried hibiscus flowers or loose hibiscus tea
  • 3 cups water
  • ½ cup local Wild Honey Bee Farm honey
  • ¼ cup Key Lime White Balsamic
  • ¼ cup freshly squeezed lime juice
  • ½ cup silver or gold tequila
  • 2 tablespoons orange liqueur
  • Crushed ice
  • Lime wedges for garnish

For the Glasses

Directions

  1. Bring 3 cups of water to a gentle boil. Remove the water from the heat and allow it to stop boiling.
  2. Carefully pour the hot water over the hibiscus tea in a heat-safe glass bowl or large measuring cup. Let it steep for 30 minutes.
  3. Strain the tea into a medium saucepan and discard the hibiscus flowers or tea leaves.
  4. Place the saucepan over medium heat. Add the local honey and stir just until completely dissolved. Do not allow the mixture to boil.
  5. Remove the hibiscus mixture from the heat and let it cool completely. Refrigerate until thoroughly chilled.
  6. Fill a cocktail shaker or tightly sealed mason jar halfway with crushed ice.
  7. Add the chilled hibiscus mixture, Key Lime White Balsamic, fresh lime juice, tequila and orange liqueur. Secure the lid and shake gently until chilled and combined.
  8. Spread the Hibiscus Blossom Sugar on a small plate. Run a lime wedge around the rim of each glass, then gently press the rims into the sugar.
  9. Fill the prepared glasses with crushed ice and divide the margarita mixture evenly among them.
  10. Garnish each glass with a lime wedge and serve immediately.
